FLORIDA — A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Brevard County on Christmas Day, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 188 in the Melbourne area during the afternoon hours. Investigators said a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound north of the Pineda Causeway when it ran off the roadway to the left and struck a crash attenuator.
The impact caused the pickup truck to go airborne and overturn before striking an Audi RS7. Debris from the collision then struck a Toyota RAV4, troopers said.
The woman driving the Dodge Ram was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not release her identity. The drivers of the Audi and Toyota were not injured and remained at the scene.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, all southbound lanes of I-95 remained blocked as of 7:30 p.m., with traffic being diverted onto Pineda Causeway. The crash remains under investigation.
