FLORIDA — Palm Beach Gardens police are investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred Monday evening at a Barnes & Noble bookstore on Legacy Avenue.
According to the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, officers were dispatched to the store at 11380 Legacy Ave. at approximately 7:53 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2025, after receiving reports of a stabbing inside the business.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Rita B. Loncharich, 65, suffering from stab wounds inside the store. Officers immediately rendered aid before Loncharich was transported to a local hospital by Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue. She later died from her injuries, police said.
Investigators said witnesses reported that the suspect stabbed the victim and then fled the store. The suspect was later identified as Antonio R. Moore, 40, and was located by investigators a short time after the incident.
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are continuing to work to determine a motive for the attack and said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
