
VIRGINIA — Fairfax County Parkway was closed in both directions at Old Plains Road late Tuesday morning as police conducted a death investigation, according to authorities.
The Fairfax County Police Department announced the investigation in a social media post around 10:30 a.m. Officers responding to the scene reported finding a man lying in the median of the parkway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives remained on site for several hours working to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Police have not released the man’s identity or information about how he died.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the investigation continued. Traffic impacts were expected to persist until the scene could be cleared.
Police said additional details would be released as the investigation develops.
