VIRGINIA — A Powerball ticket sold at a Publix store in Richmond won $150,000 in Saturday night’s drawing as the jackpot continued to climb, lottery officials said.

The Virginia Lottery announced Sunday, Dec. 21, that the winning ticket was purchased at a Publix located at 4951 S. Laburnum Ave. in Richmond. No ticket in Virginia or nationwide matched all six winning numbers in the drawing.

As a result, the jackpot for the next Powerball drawing on Monday, Dec. 22, has grown to an estimated $1.6 billion.

Lottery officials also reported that five additional tickets sold in Virginia each won $50,000.

Those tickets were purchased at a 7-Eleven at 14533 Lee Road in Chantilly; a Food Lion at 1859 East Little Creek Road in Norfolk; a BJ’s at 6607 Wilson Blvd. in Falls Church; a Murphy USA at 1860 Stavemill Crossing Lane in Powhatan; and one ticket purchased online using the Virginia Lottery mobile app.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
