FLORIDA — A Florida man recently released from prison is back in custody after a drug trafficking investigation led to a SWAT raid that uncovered narcotics and multiple firearms, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the sheriff’s office narcotics task force had been investigating a known drug trafficker identified as Danny Smith, 41, who was released from prison in April. Investigators said they developed probable cause to seek a SWAT search warrant, which was executed Friday at Smith’s home in the 100 block of Seabreeze Manor Court.

During the search, deputies said they discovered a large quantity of illegal items inside the residence, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia, firearms, ammunition, and a bulletproof vest.

Authorities also reported that Smith, a convicted felon, was in possession of multiple firearms, one of which had been reported stolen.

Smith’s girlfriend, identified as Dravin Issacs, was also at the home at the time of the search. Deputies said she was arrested and booked on charges related to possession of narcotics.

According to the sheriff’s office, Smith was booked on multiple charges, including possession of a bulletproof vest in the commission of a felony, eight counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, trafficking fentanyl between four and 14 grams, stealing a firearm, two counts of cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking amphetamines of 200 grams or more, possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis, and owning or renting a residence used for drug trafficking.

The investigation remains ongoing.
