Multiple schools in Ohio announce closures for Friday

OHIO — Numerous school districts and educational programs across Ohio announced closures or delayed starts for Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, affecting students in several counties.

Several districts canceled classes entirely for the day. Bellefontaine City Schools, Clear Fork Valley Local Schools, Ontario Local Schools, Ashland City Schools, Black River Local Schools, Corpus Christi Academy, Hair Bows and Bow Ties Learning Academy, LEAP Program–Mansfield, Mary Queen of Peace, and St. Mark Catholic all reported being closed Friday.

Switzerland County Schools also announced closures, noting that Switzerland County Elementary School in East Enterprise was closed due to a lack of water.

Other districts opted for delayed starts. Bucyrus City Schools, East Knox Local Schools, Fredericktown Local Schools, Mount Vernon City Schools, Simon Kenton School, Bellevue City Schools, Crestline Exempted Village Schools, Dale Roy School, EHOVE Career Center, Edison Local Schools, Great Lakes Truck Driving School, Madison Local Schools in Richland County, Perkins Local Schools, and St. Peter School in Mansfield all reported two-hour delays.

Springboro Community Schools in Warren County also announced a two-hour delay.

Families were encouraged to monitor district communications for updates and transportation adjustments throughout the day.
