INDIANA — Thousands of Indiana Michigan Power customers were without electricity Tuesday due to a substation outage affecting parts of northeast Allen County and southern DeKalb County.

Approximately 5,521 customers were impacted by the outage. Utility officials said a problem at a substation caused the power interruption, though the exact cause of the issue has not yet been determined.

Crews are working to restore service, and the estimated time of restoration listed on the Indiana Michigan Power website is 2 p.m.

Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to monitor updates from the utility company as restoration efforts continue.
