IOWA — A West Burlington woman has been charged with drug and traffic offenses following a late-night traffic stop earlier this month, according to the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office.

Lynett Elizabeth Sollars, 39, of West Burlington, is charged with driving under suspension and possession of a controlled substance, third offense. Authorities said Sollars was taken to the Des Moines County Correctional Center following her arrest.

According to a media release, the traffic stop occurred around 11:04 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the intersection of Amelia Street and Gunnison Street. Deputies said a vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation and Sollars was identified as the driver. A check of her driver’s license revealed it was suspended.

During the stop, a K-9 deputy conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and the dog alerted to the odor of narcotics, deputies said. A subsequent search of the vehicle did not reveal any illegal items.

However, while Sollars was standing outside the vehicle, deputies said they observed a plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine fall from her sweatshirt pocket as she removed her keys. Sollars was then placed under arrest and taken into custody.
