VIRGINIA — Three additional people have been charged in connection with an ongoing investigation into an attempt to smuggle approximately $1.1 million worth of drugs into the Virginia Correctional Center for Women, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections.
VADOC announced on Dec. 15 that eight new charges have been filed against three individuals tied to the case. Officials said one of the newly charged individuals is a current inmate at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women. Authorities did not immediately release details about the specific charges.
The case stems from an earlier investigation that led to arrests on Oct. 23, 2025. On that date, special agents with the Department of Corrections’ Office of Law Enforcement Services arrested April Parrott, a former corrections sergeant at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women, along with five other individuals. Those suspects were indicted by a Goochland County grand jury and initially faced a total of 13 charges related to the alleged smuggling operation.
According to investigators, the case involves an attempt to bring an estimated $1.1 million in illegal drugs into the correctional facility. The investigation remains ongoing.
“Drugs and illegal contraband have no place at all in our prisons and our Office of Law Enforcement Services is working hand-in-hand with our staff inside, around the clock, to keep our facilities safe and secure,” Virginia Department of Corrections Director Chad Dotson said. “I thank them for their continued persistence with this investigation.”
Officials said OLES special agents continue to investigate the case and encourage anyone with information to contact authorities at 540-830-9280.
