TENNESSEE — Several school systems in northeastern Tennessee announced schedule changes for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, as districts adjust operations in response to conditions affecting travel and school safety.
Carter County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday morning. The delayed start applies to schools across the Carter County district, giving additional time for road conditions to improve and for buses to complete routes safely before students arrive on campus.
Mountain City Schools announced a full closure for Tuesday. No in-person classes will be held, and families are encouraged to check with district officials regarding any assignments or make-up days that may be scheduled.
Erwin Schools will also open on a two-hour delay Tuesday. District officials said the delayed start is intended to support safe transportation for students and staff.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor official school communications for updates, including details about transportation, extracurricular activities, and any additional schedule changes should conditions evolve.
