PENNSYLVANIA — Extra police officers will be present at Rostraver Elementary School on Monday following reports of threats made on social media, according to the Belle Vernon Area School District.

District officials said the increased police presence is being implemented out of an abundance of caution.

In a letter sent to parents on Saturday, Superintendent Timothy Glasspool said the district received multiple reports regarding a potential threat involving the school.

Glasspool stated that the situation is being taken seriously and that an investigation into the reported threats is ongoing. District officials did not release additional details about the nature of the threats.

Parents and guardians were advised that the district is working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff.
