OHIO — Parts of central Ohio could see up to four inches of snow or more as a strong storm system moves through the region Sunday night into Monday morning.
Weather experts predict the heaviest snowfall will occur between midnight and sunrise Monday, marking what could be the season’s first plowable snow event.
Here’s what to expect from the storm system:
- Timing: The heaviest snow is expected overnight into early Monday morning.
- Snowfall Totals: The southern portion of the region, especially south of Interstate 70, has a 70% chance of receiving four or more inches of snow. In the Columbus area, there’s about a 50% chance of reaching that threshold. Snow amounts are expected to decrease significantly further north.
- Type of Precipitation: The storm is expected to bring mostly snow, with little chance of a mix or ice except in areas farther south.
The storm’s track could still shift in the coming days, impacting snowfall totals. If the system moves farther north, snow amounts in the Columbus metro area could increase. Conversely, a southward shift of 50 to 100 miles would reduce expected totals.
Travelers are urged to reconsider plans for Monday morning, as snowy conditions could make roads hazardous.
