FLORIDA — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash near Lake Wales on Friday afternoon, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the crash occurred around 12:55 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 60 and Tiger Lake Road. The vehicle involved in the crash overturned, prompting a response from sheriff’s deputies and local firefighters.
Authorities said one adult died at the scene. Two other individuals were injured and were airlifted by helicopter to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
As a result of the crash, State Road 60 was closed in both directions Friday afternoon while emergency crews worked the scene and investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the crash remains under investigation, and additional details may be released as they become available.
