TEXAS — An Athens man was taken into custody Wednesday after Henderson County narcotics investigators discovered drugs, weapons and cash on his property, according to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 1:37 p.m., investigators and deputies executed a search in the 200 block of Palmetto Avenue, targeting the property of 65-year-old Russell Kent Hambrick. Inside one of Hambrick’s vehicles, authorities found several baggies of marijuana prepackaged for sale, multiple firearms and a large amount of cash.

Investigators also searched one of Hambrick’s pickup trucks, where they reported finding suspected methamphetamine inside a plastic container, along with digital scales and small baggies commonly associated with drug distribution. Additional guns and cash were located as well.

Hambrick was arrested on multiple charges, including manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of a prohibited substance and items in a correctional facility.

The investigation is ongoing.
