North Carolina school closings and delays for Wednesday

NORTH CAROLINA — Multiple school systems in North Carolina will operate on delayed schedules Wednesday, December 10, 2025, due to conditions affecting morning travel.

One district has also announced it will be closed for the day.

Caswell County Schools, based in Yanceyville, reported a change in its weekly schedule leading into Wednesday, with officials confirming the district will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday morning.

In the mountains, Avery County Schools will also start the school day two hours late, giving extra time for staff and buses to prepare for morning travel in potentially slick or cold conditions.

Two northeastern districts will begin even later. Halifax County Schools announced a three-hour delay, the latest adjustment among the affected districts. Nearby, Northampton County Schools will open two hours late.

All schools are expected to dismiss at their regular times unless further updates are issued. Families are encouraged to monitor announcements from their local districts in case conditions change overnight.
