SOUTH CAROLINA — Law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a location on South Poplar Drive in Surfside Beach as part of a statewide criminal investigation into suspected narcotics violations and fraudulent business practices.
According to the Surfside Beach Police Department, the operation is focused on “hemp” distribution centers believed to be selling unverified and unregulated THC products that may be falsely labeled and marketed.
Investigators say the products in question could contain controlled substances or misleading levels of THC.
The search effort is being conducted in partnership with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the DEA Task Force, and the Horry County Solicitor’s Office.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been formally charged. Officials expect the Attorney General’s Office to hold a press conference Friday to release additional information about the ongoing investigation.
