FLORIDA — A 6-year-old girl has died following a go-kart accident at Urban Air Adventure and Trampoline Park in Port St. Lucie, police confirmed Monday.
The incident happened Saturday night at the entertainment center located at 9020 South U.S. Highway 1.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, an employee called 911 at 8:51 p.m. Saturday to report a go-kart crash involving a child. When officers arrived, St. Lucie County Fire District crews were already providing medical treatment. The child was airlifted to HCA Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce for emergency care. Police said they were notified Sunday that the child had died from her injuries. The department did not release her name.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and will continue pending autopsy results from the medical examiner. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also been notified.
Urban Air released a statement Monday evening expressing condolences. “We are heartbroken by the tragic incident that occurred at the Port St. Lucie, Florida park over the weekend. Our deepest sympathies go out to the child’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson said, adding that the park has closed temporarily to support the investigation and out of respect for the family.
The company stated that staff responded immediately and that safety remains its top priority as authorities continue reviewing the incident.
