SOUTH CAROLINA — A months-long joint investigation has led to charges against eight people — six adults and two juveniles — in connection with multiple violent crimes across Colleton County, authorities announced Monday.

The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Walterboro Police Department and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office worked together on the case. Investigators say the individuals were identified and linked to a series of drive-by shootings in the area.

According to CCSO, deputies have secured 37 felony warrants and gathered evidence tied to 10 separate incidents, with additional evidence that may connect the suspects to six more cases.

During the investigation, law enforcement seized 28 firearms, including four equipped with switches that converted them to fully automatic fire and one full-auto rifle sear. Officers also recovered more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition, four stolen vehicles, 42 grams of methamphetamine, 502 grams of marijuana and two grams of crack cocaine.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say more arrests and charges are possible.
