Measurable snowfall possible in parts of Indiana Sunday

INDIANA — A fast-moving clipper system is expected to move into Indiana early Sunday, bringing a range of precipitation types depending on location.

Forecasters say snow is likely across northern Indiana, a wintry mix is expected in north-central areas, and cold rain and drizzle will fall along and south of the I-70 corridor.

The system is forecast to reach the northwestern part of the state around 3 a.m., spreading into the Indianapolis metro area by about 6 a.m. Wintry precipitation will continue through the morning before tapering off after lunchtime. Light rain and drizzle will be the primary precipitation south of I-70.

This system is not expected to produce significant snowfall. Light accumulation of 1 to 2 inches or less is possible in northern and northwestern Indiana.

Travelers heading out Sunday morning into early afternoon should be prepared for periods of light to locally moderate or heavy snow north of Indianapolis, reduced visibility, and potentially slick roads.
