VIRGINIA — Interstate 95 southbound is closed Friday morning following a series of crashes involving 10 vehicles, according to the Virginia State Police.

Troopers responded around 9:15 a.m. to reports of three separate crashes near Exit 74C/Broad Street. Officials said a silver car lost control, triggering the first crash. Subsequent collisions involved several vehicles, including a tractor-trailer that jack-knifed and blocked all lanes.

Four people were transported to the hospital with injuries and are expected to recover, authorities said.

The Virginia State Police urged drivers to contact the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for information on detours and lane closures in the area.
