SOUTH CAROLINA — Greenville County deputies have arrested a man in connection with a road-rage shooting that left another man critically injured.

On December 3, the South Greenville Fire Department responded around 1:50 p.m. to a report of a possible collision off Augusta Road. Deputies found a man inside his vehicle with gunshot wounds. All lanes of Augusta Road from Bracken Road to Matrix Parkway were closed during the investigation.

Authorities said 34-year-old Steven James Strickland was arrested by Greenville County SWAT and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into a vehicle. Investigators said Strickland shot the victim at least once during the road-rage incident.

The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Strickland is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center pending bond.
