SOUTH CAROLINA — A Loris woman was arrested Wednesday after authorities discovered multiple animals living in what they described as “deplorable conditions,” according to an incident report from Horry County police.
Christina Lynn Mcafee, 37, was charged with four counts of animal care and treatment, booking records show.
Police responded to a home on Barker Road on Oct. 6, 2025, after receiving concerns about the living conditions for several dogs. When officers arrived, they found the front door of the home “wide open” and observed five dogs and one cat on the property, along with three additional dogs on the back porch.
According to the report, the home was infested with roaches and other insects, and officers noted feces and widespread filth throughout the property. Warrants further described “deleterious substances such as insects and insect larva, decaying matter, or other foul or filthy substance.”
No one was present at the home, and officers said there was no visible fresh food or water available for the animals. Investigators allege Mcafee “intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly” abandoned the animals without proper care.
Mcafee was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and is being held on an $8,000 bond.
