FLORIDA — East Ridge High School was placed on lockdown Friday morning after a gun was discovered on campus, according to school officials.
In a voice message sent to parents, Lake County Schools said staff became aware of a firearm on school grounds and were able to secure the weapon. The gun was found inside a metal lockbox, officials said.
As a precaution, the school was immediately placed on lockdown while law enforcement responded to the campus. Officers remain on site as they continue their investigation.
School officials said the lockdown will be lifted once law enforcement determines the campus is safe. No injuries were reported.
