OHIO — A Hilliard man was arrested Thursday evening after his vehicle went off the road at the intersection of State Route 235 and Ash Street in Lakeview.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received multiple calls just before 6 p.m. reporting a vehicle in a ditch. Deputies arrived to find a black 2012 Toyota Corolla off the roadway with several bystanders gathered nearby.

Witnesses told deputies the driver, identified as 48-year-old Jeffrey Febus, had been drinking earlier at the Moose Lodge and appeared unsteady before leaving the establishment. Deputies reported that Febus showed several signs of impairment at the scene. They said he first told them he had consumed two beers, but later changed his statement to three.

Febus refused to perform field sobriety tests and struggled to maintain his balance as deputies took him into custody. He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where authorities say he refused to take a breath test.

Febus was cited for operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
