
VIRGINIA — Russell County law enforcement announced Thursday that several individuals have been arrested and indicted on drug-related charges.
According to a news release from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, a grand jury returned 137 indictments against 23 people for crimes involving the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and other controlled substances. In addition, four other individuals were charged and arrested by warrant on 17 separate counts.
As of Wednesday, 16 of the 23 indicted individuals have been taken into custody. Authorities have not released the names of those arrested or indicted.
Sheriff William J. Watson and Commonwealth’s Attorney Zack Stoots credited the Holston River Drug Task Force, the Town of Lebanon Police Department, Virginia State Police, Bristol Virginia Police Department, Wise County Sheriff’s Office, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the arrests.
