FLORIDA — The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday the arrest of 26-year-old Maxwell Horvath following what officials described as a “major drug and explosive devices arrest.”
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies discovered dozens of high-powered rifles and handguns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, grenade simulators, and five improvised explosive devices during the investigation.
Authorities also reported seizing about 92,000 pounds of material used to produce 7-OH, a potent compound derived from kratom that is estimated to be 15 times stronger than morphine.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey described the case as “breaking bad on steroids,” noting that Horvath had previously served two years of federal probation in 2017 for offenses involving explosive devices and drug possession. Officials say he now faces significantly more serious charges, including pending federal indictments, though the exact charges are still being finalized.
Horvath is currently being held in jail. The sheriff’s office credited the arrest to the collaborative efforts of its agents and multiple partner agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Palm Bay Police Department.
