VIRGINIA — Quiet weather will continue across the region today and Thursday, though temperatures are expected to remain below normal, according to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg.

Forecasters say the calm will end late Thursday night as a new storm system moves into the area.

The system is expected to bring a chance of snow to the entire forecast region early Friday morning.

Accumulations are expected to be light, generally around one inch, although totals could change depending on the exact track of the low-pressure system and the amount of available moisture.

By late Friday, snow is expected to transition to rain or freezing drizzle, potentially creating slick conditions on roads. Residents are advised to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and exercise caution during the Friday morning commute.
