KENTUCKY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that it completed one of its most significant drug seizures of the year as part of an ongoing effort to disrupt large-scale trafficking in the area.

According to a news release, deputies seized 108 pounds of marijuana and two pounds of suspected heroin laced with fentanyl during a single operation. Officials said the discovery resulted from coordinated detective work and the sharp detection skills of the department’s K-9 Unit.

“This successful interdiction was driven by strategic detective work and the exceptional detection skills of our K-9 Unit, whose efforts were instrumental in the discovery,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

Authorities did not release the location of the seizure or details about any arrests, citing the active investigation.
