GEORGIA — Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that 16 members of the 1-8 Trey Bloods gang have been successfully prosecuted following a years-long investigation into violent crimes committed across the state.

The gang, a subset of the national Bloods organization, was tied to murders, shootings, drug trafficking, and a multi-state crime spree spanning 10 counties. Carr said the group even targeted minors in its recruitment efforts. “This case in particular was horrific because we had gang members targeting kids,” he said. “They were bringing in bouncy houses and ice cream trucks to recruit.”

The investigation began in 2019 and concluded in 2022, involving authorities across Georgia and as far as California. Officials said the gang’s statewide leader, Jamar “Supreme” Ramsay, directed many of the criminal operations from inside a Georgia prison using contraband cellphones and the prison call system. Ramsay, already serving a life sentence for murder, received an additional 60 years after being found guilty on multiple charges.

Another prominent member, Brantavious “Trap” Sims, was convicted in the 2022 killing of 19-year-old Lane Bullard in Barrow County. He was sentenced to life without parole plus 25 years.

The Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit, the GBI’s Gang Task Force, and the Department of Corrections’ Security Threat Group Unit all contributed to the successful prosecution. Fourteen additional gang members pleaded guilty to related charges.

Carr said the state remains committed to pursuing the final outstanding suspect. “I don’t care your race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, where you live or where you’re from — you deserve to be safe in this state. And we’re going after violent criminals,” he said.
