One person arrested following major drug bust in Arkansas

ARKANSAS — An Arkansas State Police trooper arrested a man early Wednesday morning after discovering a large quantity of illegal drugs during a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Pope County.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 26, a trooper stopped a 2008 Toyota traveling eastbound near London for a traffic violation.

During a search, officers found seventeen trash bags containing vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana, totaling about 448 pounds. Additionally, a separate bag contained a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The driver, 57-year-old Tuan Nmi Tran, was taken to the Pope County Detention Center and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tran told investigators he was traveling from Oklahoma City to Jacksonville, Arkansas.
