PENNSYLVANIA — The first winter storm of the season is set to impact central Pennsylvania Tuesday, with the National Weather Service issuing Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Watches.

Tonight will be cold and dry, with lows dropping into the 20s. Snow is expected to move in from the west early Tuesday morning around 4 a.m., reaching the eastern areas by late morning. The heaviest snowfall is forecast for late morning through early afternoon, with the storm moving quickly east and ending by approximately 4 p.m.

Commuters should be prepared for snow during the morning drive. Snowfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 5 inches in the Valley Cities and central Pennsylvania, while elevated areas in the Poconos and Endless Mountains could see 4 to 8 inches. A sharp cutoff is expected just south of the region, where the rain/snow line will set up.

Wednesday is expected to be quiet, with another chance for light snow or flurries Thursday.

Temperatures will remain very cold for the rest of the week, with lows Thursday night dipping into the teens and single digits, and highs Friday remaining in the 20s. The cold is expected to continue through the weekend, with additional chances for snow flurries.
