KENTUCKY — Two men are facing first-degree robbery charges after an alleged weekend home invasion in Bowling Green, authorities said.

The Bowling Green Police Department responded Sunday to the 300 block of Hillview Mills Boulevard after reports of suspicious individuals. Dispatchers reported “several subjects wearing masks and armed with firearms” attempting to enter an apartment.

When officers arrived, the suspects were gone, but gunshots were heard from east of the location. Police responded to the 500 block of Moss Creek Avenue, where a victim reported that at least four men had entered her home through a back door window. The intruders reportedly went into her room and demanded to know the location of a male resident.

The male resident told police he retrieved a handgun and fired multiple rounds at the intruders, who fired back before fleeing on foot. Officers pursuing the suspects lost sight of them, prompting a search involving the Bowling Green Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and Western Kentucky University Police.

Authorities later located 21-year-old Jaivion Harris at a FiveStar convenience store on Veterans Memorial Lane, and 19-year-old Brian Williams Jr. near Stonebridge Lane and Creekwood Avenue with an apparent gunshot wound. Shell casings were recovered at the home invasion scene.

A nearby resident reported hearing gunshots and seeing the suspects running, but confirmed that no shots were fired by him or his armed neighbor.

Harris and Williams were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. The investigation is ongoing.
