LOUISIANA — A 19-year-old has been charged with murder after police say he fatally shot another teen at a hair salon in the Town & Country Shopping Center on Saturday.
The Hammond Police Department said the shooting occurred around 5 p.m. Officers identified the suspect as Kylan Green, who allegedly shot 18-year-old Jermaine Stevenson Jr. inside the business.
According to investigators, an acquaintance drove Stevenson to a hospital following the shooting, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said Green fled to Main’s Market and called authorities to report that he had shot someone. Officers arrested him at that location.
Green is charged with second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a weapon. Detectives are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
