KENTUCKY — Three people were arrested in Owensboro after authorities discovered an illegal psilocybin mushroom operation inside a residence on Saint Ann Street, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies, accompanied by Kentucky Probation and Parole officers, were visiting the home when they reportedly observed illegal controlled substances in plain view. After securing a search warrant, investigators searched the rest of the house and said they found an active psilocybin mushroom grow operation in the basement.
Items seized included spores, seeds, grown psilocybin mushrooms, gummy packaging, and other materials used to process, package, and distribute illegal mushrooms. Deputies also reported finding five boxes of finished psilocybin mushrooms in a child’s bedroom.
Because of the hazards associated with dismantling the operation, the Kentucky State Police hazardous materials unit was called to assist with cleanup.
Authorities arrested 21-year-old Jacob Allen, 23-year-old Karlee Allen, and 41-year-old Bradley A. Rone. Jacob Allen faces charges including first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree wanton endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Karlee Allen and Bradley Rone were charged with second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree wanton endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three suspects were taken to the Daviess County Detention Center.
