Portion of I-95 in South Carolina shut down following vehicle crash

SOUTH CAROLINA — A crash near the South Carolina–Georgia state line caused major traffic backups Wednesday morning, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

As of 9:07 a.m., all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were blocked near Exit 5 in Hardeeville.

Officials also reported heavy congestion in the southbound lanes.

The Georgia Department of Transportation indicated significant delays on its side of the state line as well. Authorities have not released details about the crash, and drivers are urged to use caution in the area.
