OHIO — A months-long drug trafficking investigation in Bellefontaine led to the arrest of a Columbus man and the execution of multiple search warrants Monday, authorities said.
At 9:57 a.m. on Nov. 24, the Bellefontaine Police Department K9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a dark green Dodge Ram driven by 50-year-old Tyrone Jackson, who was wanted on a first-degree felony warrant for trafficking in cocaine.
The investigation involved Bellefontaine Police detectives, the BPD K9 Unit, Logan County Sheriff’s Office detectives, and HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area). During the stop, K9 Pyro alerted to the presence of narcotics, and a search of the vehicle uncovered over an ounce of crack cocaine and a digital scale. Jackson was taken into custody at the scene.
Following the arrest, detectives executed three narcotics-related search warrants at residences linked to Jackson in Columbus. Searches recovered evidence of drug trafficking and illegal drug manufacturing, U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia, and three firearms, including one stolen weapon.
Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. Authorities credited the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies and specialized units, along with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office, for their ongoing commitment to combating illegal drug activity in the community.
