OHIO — Some areas of Ohio will need to break out the snow shovel today.

Northeast Ohio residents should prepare for a wintry weekend as a quick burst of snow this evening transitions into persistent lake effect snow through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland.

Snowfall totals are expected to range from 3 to 7 inches in the Advisory area, with snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour in the most intense bands.

Counties adjacent to the Advisory area are also being monitored for potential snowfall exceeding 4 inches.

In addition to heavy snowfall, wind chills will drop into the teens and single digits late tonight and continue through Saturday, creating frigid conditions across the region.
