PENNSYLVANIA — Three people died early Friday after a police pursuit ended in a violent crash along Route 41, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Investigators said troopers from the Avondale station attempted a traffic stop around 1:21 a.m. after observing a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations near East Third Street and Garner Drive in New Garden Township. The driver refused to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit.
Shortly after the chase began, the vehicle crashed along Route 41, killing all three occupants. Their names have not yet been released. Police said the vehicle was destroyed in the impact, with photos showing the wrecked car heavily mangled beside a tree off the roadway.
No troopers were injured.
Route 41 remains closed between Limestone and Sharp roads while the Pennsylvania State Police Major Case Team continues its investigation.
