INDIANA — A large-scale drug sweep in Johnson County on Wednesday targeted 32 suspects and resulted in more than two dozen arrests, according to county officials.
Law enforcement agencies from Johnson County and neighboring Marion County joined forces in the operation, ultimately apprehending 26 of the individuals sought. Authorities said fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine were among the drugs seized during the coordinated raid.
“What we’re dealing with in Johnson County is street-level dealers,” said Megan Smither, Johnson County Deputy Prosecutor. She emphasized that while the suspects are not high-level traffickers, their arrests represent a significant step toward improving community safety.
A display featuring photos of the 32 women and men targeted in the operation was posted on a wall at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office during the announcement.
Smither said targeting local dealers helps curb the flow of dangerous drugs into neighborhoods, reinforcing the county’s message that drug activity will not be tolerated. The investigation is ongoing.
