NORTH CAROLINA — A Durham County school bus driver has been arrested and charged with multiple child sex offenses involving a middle school student, according to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenneth Alexander Thompson Jr., 25, was taken into custody Wednesday at a home in Burlington. He is charged with three counts of statutory rape of a child younger than 15, one count of first-degree statutory sex offense, and one count of sexual activity with a student.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began in August when the mother of a female middle school student reported that Thompson had been engaging in sexual activities with her daughter. The alleged encounters began in November 2024, investigators said.
Thompson is being held without bond at the Durham County Detention Facility. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said additional charges are pending, and the investigation remains ongoing.
