SOUTH CAROLINA — A man and woman were arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop in Oconee County, authorities said.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office initiated the stop Sunday near Manor Road and West-Oak Highway after observing a traffic violation.
Deputies contacted the driver, 42-year-old Heath Allen Bates, who was found to have a suspended driver’s license.
During a search, deputies discovered nearly two grams of fentanyl on Bates. His passenger, 36-year-old Celeste Crowe, was found with more than 12 grams of methamphetamine. Authorities also learned Crowe had an active bench warrant. She was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
Bates was charged with possession of fentanyl and driving under suspension.
Both remain in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
