GEORGIA — Coffee County’s newly formed Drug Interdiction & Criminal Enforcement Unit (D.I.C.E.) is already making an impact, announcing a series of arrests in its first two weeks of operation.
Launched on Nov. 1, 2025, the unit works in coordination with the Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit (DCDU) to target drug trafficking and criminal activity across the county.
Since its inception, the D.I.C.E. Unit has made several arrests:
- Nov. 4: Brittany Gilcris arrested for suspected meth possession; a follow-up search led to additional charges for Jerome Daniels.
- Nov. 6: Windell Douglas arrested after being found unconscious behind the wheel with suspected meth recovered.
- Nov. 7: Demtric Limike Davis taken into custody on warrants for false imprisonment, family violence battery, and a probation violation.
- Nov. 8: Randy Keene arrested on a meth sale warrant; more meth found during the search.
- Nov. 8: Jose Manuel Lopez Sales arrested on multiple traffic violations and an active ICE detainer.
- Nov. 8: William Shawn V arrested for driving with a suspended license.
Most notably, on Nov. 16, 43-year-old William Micajah Batten of Douglas, a convicted felon and known distributor of methamphetamine and ephedrine, was captured after repeatedly fleeing from law enforcement. Batten, who violated his parole stemming from prior drug charges, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center.
Sheriff Fred Cole said the unit demonstrates the county’s tough approach to crime. “This operation is exactly what our zero-tolerance, no-nonsense policy looks like,” Cole said. He added that the goal is to stop drug trafficking “before it reaches neighborhoods.”
