PENNSYLVANIA — An Allegheny County man is facing a criminal homicide charge after investigators say he beat his girlfriend to death and hid her body under blankets inside his truck.

According to the criminal complaint, detectives found the interior of the truck covered in red-brown staining and signs of a violent struggle.

The suspect, identified as Higgins, allegedly told authorities that the victim, Pryber, had been drinking and using drugs in his vehicle. He also claimed he was angry with her, accusing her of taking his money and seeing other men. He further blamed her for getting him evicted from Garden View Manor Apartments.

Investigators say Higgins admitted to repeatedly punching Pryber in the face with his fists, telling police he struck her so hard that “her blood and tissue was all over the inside of his truck.” The complaint notes that Pryber suffered from a medical condition that left her unable to defend herself.

Higgins allegedly drove around for several days with her body before stopping in a Monroeville parking lot, where he disposed of bloodied towels and a portable oxygen machine in a dumpster.

He was later taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide. The investigation is ongoing.
