OHIO — A West Mansfield man was arrested Saturday after a series of incidents that included an attempted robbery, a domestic complaint, and a brief standoff with law enforcement, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies first responded around 1 p.m. when a woman reported that 26-year-old Raijuan White had repeatedly come to her home, leaving love letters and flowers. She also told deputies that White had taken her car and dog without permission the previous day.
Although the car was returned and she initially declined to file charges, she reported that White returned Saturday and took her dog again. She said he was wearing camouflage pants, a black hoodie, and a black ski mask.
About 30 minutes later, dispatch received a 911 call from a resident on the 100 block of South Main Street reporting an attempted robbery. The caller said White confronted his brother and sister-in-law with a knife, demanded their belongings, and wrestled with him before fleeing.
Deputies went to White’s home, where he briefly opened the back door before shutting it and refusing to come out. The Bellefontaine Police SWAT team responded to assist. After repeated commands and several flashbangs, White surrendered at the front door without further incident.
He was taken to the Logan County Jail on a charge of attempted aggravated robbery. Deputies said they recovered camouflage pants, a ski mask, a knife wrapped in plastic, two letters, fake flowers, and a 9mm magazine belonging to White.
On Sunday, deputies also received a statement from a bank employee in West Mansfield who said that just after noon Saturday, a masked man she believed to be White approached her car, asked to get in, and pulled on the passenger door before walking away. She said he did not threaten her but the encounter left her shaken.
The investigation remains ongoing, and deputies said additional charges are possible.
