NORTH CAROLINA — A crash in northeast Charlotte is causing significant traffic delays on Interstate 85 North, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Two lanes are blocked just past exit 46 for Mallard Creek Church Road. The NCDOT’s DriveNC map indicates that traffic could be impacted for several hours while crews work to clear the scene.

As of 10:55 a.m., backups on I-85 North extended to West W.T. Harris Boulevard. Authorities have not confirmed whether anyone was injured in the crash.

Drivers are advised to use I-485 as an alternate route beyond the crash.

U.S. 29 and North Carolina 49 are also suggested for drivers heading toward Concord or Harrisburg.
