
VIRGINIA — The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a moped crash that left a 56-year-old man dead earlier this month.
The crash occurred on Nov. 5 around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 5th Street and Elm Avenue SW. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was identified as Timothy Harrison, 56, of Roanoke. Harrison was taken to a local hospital for treatment and died on Nov. 8.
According to the initial investigation, the moped was traveling north on 5th Street SW when it ran a red light and struck a Ford F-150 that was heading east on Elm Avenue SW with a green light. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
