Crews respond to downed aircraft in Georgia

GEORGIA — Multiple emergency agencies responded Thursday evening to reports of an aircraft crash in the Savannah area.

According to the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 574, crews were dispatched to the area of Truman Parkway and Eisenhower Drive after receiving reports of a downed aircraft. Firefighters later located wreckage near the Bacon Park Golf Course.

The union said two people who were inside the aircraft managed to self-extricate before first responders arrived. Both individuals declined medical attention at the scene.

Authorities have not released additional details about the cause of the crash or the type of aircraft involved. The investigation is ongoing.
