VIRGINIA — Three people were arrested late Tuesday night after a wanted subject barricaded himself inside a home in Bassett, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant around 9:20 p.m. on November 11 at 607 Longview Drive. When they arrived, deputies could hear people inside, but no one would answer the door.
After several unsuccessful attempts to get the occupants to come out, a search warrant was obtained, and the Henry County SWAT Team was called in to assist.
For roughly three hours, deputies and SWAT personnel made repeated announcements for the individuals inside to exit the home. One person eventually came out and was taken into custody. Officers then entered and searched the residence, locating and arresting all wanted individuals.
Deputies found Derrick Lyn Phillippe, 39, hiding inside a footlocker with household items stacked on top to conceal him. Phillippe was arrested and held without bond on multiple charges, including obstructing justice, probation violations, a first offender violation, and three counts of selling or distributing Schedule III drugs.
Levi Enoch Dunmire, 38, was also arrested and held without bond on four probation violation charges.
Sarah Burnette Foster, 37, was charged with obstructing justice and given a $2,000 bond.
Sheriff Wayne Davis commended the responding officers, saying, “Our deputies and SWAT personnel displayed professionalism and patience throughout this incident. Their methodical approach ensured that the situation was resolved safely and without injury to anyone involved. I’m proud of their teamwork and dedication to protecting our community.”
