SOUTH CAROLINA — A Lowcountry grocery store is closed for the day following an overnight burglary, according to the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the break-in happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday at the Piggly Wiggly in Hampton. Both the Piggly Wiggly and the nearby Carolina Pharmacy were affected by the incident.
Store officials said Piggly Wiggly will remain closed for the rest of the day or until further notice.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Crime Scene Unit and the Varnville Police Department are assisting with the investigation.
