FLORIDA — Two 4-year-old boys were hospitalized Saturday after being shot at their family’s home, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were called to AdventHealth East just after 2 a.m. after the children’s parents brought the boys in with gunshot wounds.
The children were later transferred to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, where they remain in critical but stable condition.
Both parents were arrested following interviews with investigators. The mother, Keishara Goodrum, was charged with two counts of child neglect resulting in great bodily harm. The father, Maurice Wayne Bright Jr., was arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
According to deputies, the parents said they did not see the shooting happen but heard a loud “pop” inside the home.
The incident remains under investigation.
